butterfly-totem-temp-300Over the next 20 weeks I will be writing a series of articles entitled 100 Healing Tips for Personal Transformation and Upliftment that I intend to turn into an expanded book on the subject. Some of these tips are powerfully life enhancing and are truly meant to be practiced for soul growth. I call these areas of life mastery that we are here to recall. I’ll point these out along the way. Ideally these are the keys for living an enlightened, joyful life of abundance. The other tips will be what I call uplifting actions that will open the passage way for new beginnings. They are ways to “reach for relief” when times are tough as I learned from the teachings of Abraham–a wise group of non-physical Beings who speak through the conscious channel Ester Hicks. You can find out more about their teachings by visiting their website www.Abraham-Hicks.com. When we take action in a mindful way that attends to our truest needs, we always feel relieved. Actions that “reach for relief,” or thinking that lightens our spirits, all fall in the category of soul re-alignment.

It is my wish that you will attract to you the Healing Tips or inspired actions that will guide you in your journey of transformation. Keep in mind that these are tips that feel good to me and that I feel are life enhancing when taken in moderation. Your greatest resource is always inside of you, so always follow what feels good to you until a solution arises within you. Remember not to escape your problems through this feeling good, but use these tools to come back to a more relaxed, calm you so you can then focus your attention on the solution. All solutions lie within and you have the power to access them. I’ve grown to appreciate these healing methods as my ways of revealing that which is most beneficial for me to act upon, move toward or embrace in my journey. The bottom line is that life is a journey to be explored, so have fun exploring these tips and listen to your guidance in all that you embark upon and experience.

36. Binaural Beats Meditations and Sound Therapy
I use binaural beats music in my meditation almost everyday. I’ve also used them for healing purposes and to access stillness, mental focus and guidance. Below is an explanation of what binaural beats are off a website that I found. The link to this website is below the quote as well.

“What Are Binaural Beats?
They are scientifically proven audios designed to entrain our brainwaves to reach the most powerful frequencies of the human mind. They are able to influence the way that our brain resonates. Because everything we experience is based on how our brainwave frequencies resonates we are able to use these audios to experience anything we want.
Deep states of meditation, a great nights sleep, vivid dreams, out-of-body experiences, enhanced physical abilities, creative insights, and other states associated with specific brainwave frequencies are all things that can be experienced on demand using these powerful tools.”

http://binauralbrains.com/ –They also offer free downloads of binaural music

I personally have seen amazing results with free downable binaural music as well with paid for music. Below are some suggestions for you to look into:

OmHarmonics: They offer a free 10 minute meditation on there website that I use from time to time. Their music can be used without stereo headphones but most binaural music is meant to be listened to with stereo headphones.

Kelly Howell’s Brain Massage CD: This one I use when I want to get a deep night’s sleep as this music helps the brain to reach theta state which is a higher brain wave state.

Holosync or Hemisync: You can find binaural beats music and meditations on Youtube under these names.

Why do I suggest binaural beats for healing and upliftment? I find that the quickest way to get into the state of allowing my Higher Power to take over is to quiet my mind and relax my body. Binaural beats music balances the brain’s right and left hemisphere’s which can cause the body to relax, the mind to go free and intuition or creative thinking to be accessed. I highly recommend that you try using binaural music with headphones over a period of time. At first you might get more brain chatter but that’s normal as the brain starts to build synopsis between the right and left hemispheres of the brain. Eventually, the brain will still and you’ll enter into more relaxed states of being. Some people have even had out of body experiences or altered states of awareness. You can do additional research online about binaural beats and see all the results and experiences people are having.

37. Candle Exercise for Lack of Focus and Concentration
If you are experiencing an inability to focus or concentrate for long periods of time or you’re easily distracted by noise that leads to confusion in the mind, then I recommend that you try using this candle exercise over a period of 21 days or more. I personal used this exercise when my hormones were going through “the shift” and I had trouble focusing and concentrating on anything. I was also wanting to channel a book at the time and I needed to be able to hold my focus for longer periods of time.

This exercise is simple and there are many ways to do it but this is what I suggest. Light a candle and place it across from you at about eye level or just above (some say to look slightly below eye level but I know that looking upward helps to activate alpha state in the brain so this is how I do it). Sit in a chair or your bed, with your back straight, dim the lights and begin to breathe deeply in and out of your nose while gazing at the candle’s flame. I usually look right above the flame so the flame’s light doesn’t irritate my eyes. Set a timer for 10 minutes. Keep your gaze focused there and as thoughts come into your mind just tap your finger, tick a mark on a piece of paper or imagine them floating up like bubbles. I found that ticking a mark on the piece of paper was disturbing to me so I switched to the finger tapping and then settled on the bubbles. As you start this exercise you may notice that you have a lot of thoughts that come in…a bubble festival! But as you continue to do this, the mind will get quieter and quieter.

You can also do this same exercise without a candle and just stare at an object or a point on the wall. It’s okay to blink your eyes and if your eyes move away, that’s okay too. Just gently resume your focus on the candle or object. Some recommend that you hold your eyes open and not blink. I paid no attention to this because I feel if you try not to blink, you will instinctively blink. So just rest your eyes on the candle without straining to do so and hold your focus there as long as you can without moving your eyes.

Within a few days I was noticing a calmer, more open me. I even felt energy shifting in my body and guidance coming in. This kind of meditation is used often for people who want to build their concentration skills and even relax the body. No more than 10 minutes is required but other people recommend up to 20 minutes. If you begin to nod off, you can choose to breathe more deeply. However, if you’ve been tired and fatigued, listen to your body and take a quick cat nap. These power naps can be quite healing and rejuvenating. But that’s another Healing Tip for another day!

38. Practicing Body Equanimity
We often talk about equanimity as a calmness of the mind or a gentle quiet state of relaxation. We can however, practice this in our bodies as well. It’s a very simple way to relax your body so the mind can also relax. We all know that when stress hits us, our body tenses up. Sometimes we hold stress in our bodies for so long that we get body-stress responses to certain situations in our life. For me, I would always get very tense in my neck and shoulders when a man or person with authority yelled at me. I had a fight or flight response as a child that caused me to get all red around my neck because I couldn’t speak up for myself. This carried over into my adult adventures with speaking. In any event, I had to train myself to relax in front of people and find ways to calm my body. I’ll talk about some of those ways in future articles.

For today though, you can simple start by practicing relaxing you body where ever you are. Just breathe deeply and begin either at your feet or at the top of your head and work you way all the way through the body relaxing each body part. You can even say the word relax over and over to create a mnemonic response with this word. If you have particular areas of stress, take a few moments there and relax this area deeper and deeper. You can even imagine a white light there. Take a few moments right now and relax your shoulders, neck and jaw. We carry so much stress right here. Turn your neck side to side or breathe in and out through that area. You’ll find that as you practice this body mindfulness, you’ll begin to get kinesthetic body responses that simply move your body. It may seem like some other force is moving your body but know this is your Spirit taking over on your behalf to unwind the muscles and the connective tissue around the muscles for you. Think of it as Divine help.

This is also a great practice to do when you are in a stressful situation at work or a stressful conversation. Begin your deep breathing and put your awareness on the tense parts of your body and relax. You can even say to your body, “relax and be present”. You may find that as you do this, the person or persons involved in the situation that is stressful will also calm down or they will remove themselves from your presence. The breathing and attention to your body’s needs will help you to focus on the needs of the group or person in front of you in a more highly attuned way. Not in a people pleasing way, but in a Divinely Inspired way. I’m still working on this practice myself, but I’ve seen great results with it before speaking engagements, in my meditations, when I feel sick and during disagreements with others. Try it out and see what transformation occurs.

39. Access the Power of Your Heart
The heart center is the center of Divine Love, Divine Will and Providence. Accessing the power of your heart for healing purposes can mean many things and also be very profound. First, it’s important to remember that the heart center is a chakra center and it is the center of love for self and others as well as our capacity to give and receive in equanimity and to be compassionate. Joy and compassion also resonates with the heart center as well. When we return to a state of grace and well-being where we love and accept ourselves unconditionally, our whole capacity to love deepens. This in and of itself can be very healing. For some to return to this state of self love they have to be willing to let go of the past, see the gifts in it, be able to forgive and then be willing to create something different. If you’ve experienced trauma and abuse in your life like I have, it make take some soul searching and working with alternative healers and spiritual mentors to truly embody this space of unconditional love. I know that I do my best in this everyday and I feel love and support for myself in this. No one is a perfect expression of God in form–at least not from our Human perspective. Not even Jesus was. But with practice and faith, you can truly move mountains with love and become more “blended” with your Divine Self.

Secondly, I want to talk about the heart’s intelligence. There have been many studies done by the HeartMath Institute surrounding the heart’s intelligence. What they learned is that the heart itself has neurons like your brain. These neurons can send signals to the brain that the brain CAN NOT ignore. However, the brain can send signals to the heart and the HEART HAS THE CHOICE TO IGNORE THEM! This knowledge catalyzed so much change in my life. The heart was our first “thinker” as it was formed first in the womb. You can access the heart’s intelligence, or your Divine Intelligence, by focusing your attention on your heart space and breathing deeply. You can set your intention for healing prior to this or you can ask a question. Either way, with practice you will begin to hear thoughts that feel pure, uplifting and resolve your issues. Whatever is given to you, follow it.

You can go online to the HeartMath Institute website by using the link below. They have all kinds of techniques, Youtube videos and training programs for people interested in accessing the power of the heart. I highly recommend that you do this or at least read the book The HeartMath Solution or The Science of the Heart. I’ve read the first book and it really helped me in my times of need. There are great exercises in the book that can help you out of difficult situations. For me, I wanted to know how it worked. I was always into the idea of science and God becoming one. At a minimum, the studies helped me to have the belief that the exercises would work for me too and they did. I even experienced instantaneous healing by focusing on my heart with intent. Today I use a heart-focus meditation almost daily to center myself and I teach one similar to it on my radio shows, workshops and in my private work with people. As with meditation of any kind, the consistency of practice will have a cumulative effect and strengthen your connection to your Higher Power, sense of well-being and love for self.

40. Laugh out Loud
Laughing is probably one the easiest and fun ways to heal and uplift oneself. I find that laughter is the best policy when I really get into a rut. I like to watch funny movies and TV shows. I think of funny things in my life. I call myself silly and laugh at myself. I play with my dog and laugh. I’ve even taken laughter yoga classes that I found to be quite fun. I’ve even heard stories of people curing themselves of incurable diseases through laughter. Joy is a very high vibration and it will literally change the cells in your body. This is the Law of Perpetual Transmutation of Energy according to one website that I found online. The link to it is below. Basically it states that higher vibrations consume and transmute lower vibrations and that this is in perpetual motion in this Universe.

If you can find a way to laugh out loud often enough, you’ll really be on a healing curve. This reminds of the movie Patch Adams with Robin Williams who played a physician who used laughter as a means to help others to heal. It’s a wonderful movie and again it helps you to believe in the power of the human Spirit to overcome obstacles through love, affection and laughter. That was the Patch Adams way. Regardless of whether or not you watch the movie, there are plenty of studies out there that prove what we already know in our hearts. Even the Cancer Center of American wrote an article on the benefits of laughter therapy. This link is also below. The bottom line is that laughter causes a biochemical response in the body that is life enhancing. So book a night at a comedy club, watch those old Johnny Carson shows or Carol Burnett (I’m dating myself here–heehee) and LAUGH OUT LOUD LIKE A KID AGAIN!
